Description

Honeybees live in several hives installed on the rooftops of two buildings in Shimokitazawa, Setagaya, Tokyo. Worker bees gather nectar from the flowers around the Shimokita neighborhood. The honey produced there is Shimokita Honey.

It is completely pure honey with no additives, and is natural and unheated.

Do you process or heat the honey?

Our honey is 100% raw and completely unheated. By avoiding heat processing, we preserve its natural flavor, aroma, and as many naturally occurring nutrients as possible.

Does the honey have an expiration date?

The best-before date is 2 years from the date the honey is bottled. However, honey naturally has a very long shelf life, so as long as no foreign substances enter the jar and it is stored properly, it can still be enjoyed even after the best-before date.

Is it still safe to eat if the honey turns white or crystallizes?

Yes. Honey naturally crystallizes and may turn white when stored at lower temperatures. This is a natural characteristic of raw honey and does not affect its quality. The crystals will dissolve if the jar is gently warmed at an appropriate temperature.

What does the date on the lid label mean?

The date on the lid indicates when the honey was bottled.
